Rental Policies

Additional drivers - There is an additional charge of 5 Euro per day for each additional authorized driver.

All drivers must be at least 21 years of age to rent a vehicle. Renters 21-24 years of age may rent car class Mini through standard wagon size cars, 5 seated passenger vans, small four-wheel drives and cargo vans. For Renters 25 years of age there is no age restriction with regards to car class.

The deductible that applies to cars rented at German locations is 850 EUR for all car classes, except commercial vans 1000 EUR. The deductible for rentals made under corporate agreements can vary. Please contact your local branch for more information. Reduced liability cover, EP-Excess Protection, is offered at an additional charge at the time of rental. Should the renter decide to reduce his or her liability, Enterprise shall waive, in accordance with the terms of the rental agreement and applicable laws, liability claims for loss or damage to vehicle rental. Cover provided by the liability reduction may overlap with the terms of the renters existing insurance cover, e.g. credit card, insurance cover. Enterprise is not in a position to determine whether the renters existing insurance cover will suffice. The renter should check his or her relevant insurance policies to establish whether they already cover the level of protection for the rental car that is offered by the reduced liability cover.

One way rentals - within Germany one way rentals are allowed and will be charged from 15 Euro per rental, the charge for passenger vans and cargo vans varies. Airport access fee - There is a minimum of 20 percent surcharge for airport rentals. Out of country rentals - are allowed to certain countries outside of Germany. Restrictions do apply. Out of country rentals require prior approval and are charged 5 Euro per day, 50 Euro per rental maximum. Out of country rentals are allowed into Andorra, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Gibraltar, Great Britain, Ireland, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland and Spain. Out of Country rentals into Croatia, Italy, The Vatican, San Marino, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic and Hungary are allowed excluding rentals of the following brands – Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen, Land Rover and Jaguar. Out of country rentals are not allowed to other countries not mentioned above. For business rentals your corporate terms and conditions prevail.

Pai-pec are offered at an additional charge at the time of the contract being signed. Should these insurance policies be taken out, in the event of an accident the renter and passengers shall receive, amongst other things, disability payouts and death benefits or insurance cover for baggage-belongings stolen from the vehicle. Pai-pec benefits are not affected by the renters other insurance cover. This only serves as a summary, further details can be obtained from the office. Pai-pec are subject to the conditions, limitations and exclusions that are listed, according to the contract date, in the pai policy of züich versicherung -zurich insurance. Taking out pai-pec is optional and not a requirement for vehicle rental. Cover provided by pai-pec may overlap with the terms of the renters existing insurance cover. Enterprise is not in a position to determine whether the renters existing insurance cover will suffice. The renter should check his relevant policies to establish whether they already cover the level of protection offered by the pai-pec.

Payment - For payment we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, VPay und Maestro Card. Bookable with Maestro - VPay Credit Card - Mini through standard wagon size cars, 5 seated passenger vans, small four-wheel drives and cargo vans. For renter of 25 years and above with a credit card they are allowed to rent car class F- Full size and higher. All PrePay cards are not accepted as normal Credit cards.

Documents - All drivers must present their valid driving license and identity card or passport at time of rental. Non-English licenses issued outside of Europe must be accompanied by an international driving license in English. Rental can be completed up to 6 months after entry-date stamped in the drivers passport. Age - All drivers must be at least 21 years of age to rent a vehicle. Renters 21-24 years of age may rent car class Mini through standard wagon size cars, 5 seated passenger vans, small four-wheel drives and cargo vans. For Renters 25 years of age there is no age restriction with regards to car class.

To rent a car from Enterprise Rent-A-Car in the United States and Canada, you will need the following:

  • To be 25 years old 
  • A valid driver's license with a photo
  • A photo ID (For example: a driver’s license or passport)
  • Credit or debit card (check the acceptable forms of payment at the location you’re renting from)

Some locations may require additional information, including but not limited to: 

  • An International Driving Permit (IDP): If the license is written in a language or characters different to those of the country of rental, an IDP is also required. Renters are advised to check whether local authorities require foreign drivers to present an International Driving Permit to avoid the risk of potential fines. Renters with licenses from countries who are not part of the International Driving Permit Agreement should carry a certified translation.
  • Return travel and accommodation information: Visitors to the UK must also provide proof of return travel and accommodation information while in the UK. 

As a customer, you have a choice as to how you would like to pay for fuel.

Fuel Policy at Non-Airport locations:

  • You may refuel the vehicle to the same fuel level you received when you picked up the vehicle, or if you choose not to refuel the vehicle to the same fuel level, you will be charged the local Enterprise rate which is typically above the local pump price. An additional refueling charge may apply at some locations.
  • A full tank of gas is not guaranteed.

Fuel Policy at Airport Car Rental Locations:

  • You may refuel the vehicle to the same fuel level you received when you picked up the vehicle, or if you choose not to refuel the vehicle to the same fuel level, you will be charged the local Enterprise rate which is typically above the local pump price. An additional refueling charge may apply at some locations.
  • You may opt to pre-pay for fuel -- Pre-pay gives you two conveniences:
    • You can avoid the hassle of having to fuel up the vehicle before returning.
    • Pre-pay fuel option is calculated at the local rate of gas minus a per gallon discount.

Note: Prepaid fuel is only sold in full tanks at the discounted price per gallon and is not refundable. Local fuel rates will vary by the area you are renting a vehicle.
