Under five miles south of Lisburn’s city center is the pretty village of Hillsborough. Situated in the heart of County Down, much of the village features elegant Georgian properties. The village is also home to Hillsborough Castle, a Georgian-style mansion that served as Northern Ireland’s Government House between 1924 and 1973. The property continues to be a royal residence. Built between 1760 and 1774, Saint Malachy Church is a fine example of Gothic Revival architecture.
